Clear
Truthful
Types of feedback
Intrinsic
Extrinsic
Positive
Negative
Terminal
Concurrent
Intrinsic
Comes from your senses during the movement
Perceived by the performer
e.g. hearing a tennis ball hit the frame of the racket
Also from kinaesthetic feedback = feel of the movement
Extrinsic
Comes from external forces
e.g. a coach
Can be tangible (e.g. facts + figures) + non-tangible (e.g. advice + motivation)
Knowledge of result
Consists of tangible data
Terminal
Outcome driven
Offers basic information on success of result
Knowledge of performance
Non-tangible
Offers feedback on movement + performance regardless of outcome –> how well they performed
Positive feedback
Praise
Negative feedback
Removing negative stimuli to promote positive behaviour
Terminal
Given after performance
Concurrent
Given during performance
