Pathway- medial nerve
-C5-T1 + extending from the medial + lateral cords of the brachial plexus
-travels down the intermedial arm through a septum of fascia between biceps + triceps
-then passes under the Ligament of struthers
-then courses through the 2 heads of pronator teres + under the superficial flexors of the writs to the carpal tunnel
- through carpal tunnel into the palmar aspect of the thumb, index, middle + part of ring finger
Muscles innervated by the median nerve
-pronator teres
-Flexor Digitorum profundis
-pronate quadratus
-Flexor carpi radialis
-Flexor Digitorum superficial
-palmaris longus
-Flexor policis longus
-abductor pollicis longus
-opponus pollicis
-Flexor pollicis brevis
Ape hand
Movements of the thumbs are very limited. Limited flexion + extension, cannonly move thumb away + towards hand in the plane of the palm
Oath hand
Attempt to make first, only 3rd + 4th digit can flex
