1. Hand hygiene! Use gloves!
2. Use kidney bowl for gathering things.
3. Prepare everything so it is easy to grab things with one hand.
4. Check if the glucometer is workig (insert the test strip or press the button to turn it on).
5. Clean the punction site with antiseptic. Do not spray directly on the patient! Let the puncture
   site dry completely.
6. Place the test strip in the glucometer, do not touch the end of the test strip (the sampling area)
   with your fingers. If the test strip has previously been placed in the machine, make sure that
   the machine is ready for collecting the blood drop.
7. Make a puncture or scratch on the selected place. If possible, wipe the first drop with a dry
   and clean swab and use the second drop.
8. Place the end of the test strip into the drop of blood and make sure that the device starts
   measuring the result.
9. Place a dry and clean swab on the puncture site. Keep pressure until the bleeding stops.
