  • Other hand holding just below the knee for stability
  • Pull up for dorsiflexion

– In standing ask patient to put affected foot onto a step/stool

–Using thumbs locate talus

–Maintain pressure over talus, using pads of thumbs, ask patient to lunge forward

A

–Patient is in supine

  • Put knee into flexion and then stretch out into extension
  • Put one arm on the ankle and the other just above the knee

–Passively test their flexion ROM

–Support around the knee and around the foot and perform all grades in this position

  • If knee is very sore could do with patient prone

Longitudinal caudad and cephalad (knee)

A

–Start with patient in supine and knee in extension

–With one hand cup the inferior aspect of the patella. The heel of the other hand is placed of the superior aspect of the patella.

–From this position you can glide the patella in a caudad or cephalad position to ascertain ROM and then perform the specific mobilisation

  • Hold the big toe and lift up to extend

Acromioclavicular joint (shoulder) AP GLIDE AND PA GLIDES

  • Patient sitting on bed with shirt off
  • Arm should be resting on bed maybe get them to sit on a chair
  • Find the acromion and clavicle on the edge of the shoulder should feel like a V shape
  • Hold them both with 1 finger and a thumb and stabilise one whilst gliding the other
  • Glide Front to back for AP and Back to front for PA

  • Patient sitting on the bed
  • Grab the patients elbow and arm and flex for flexion like bicep curl
  • Extend from flexion for extension

A
  • Patient lying in supine with top off
  • Find the patients sternum by following along their clavicle
  • Use thumbs flat with one thumb stabilised on the joint line between clavicle and sternum
  • Other thumb should be on the sternoclavicular joint gliding from posterior to anterior

  • Patient lying in supine with top off
  • Find sternoclavicular joint line with one thumb and stabilise
  • With other hand go under and try and work into below where the thumb is
  • Try to pull up gently for AP glide
