Hydrocele
A
Fluid collection within the processus or tunical vaginalis (peritoneal projection that accompanies the testis during its descent into the scrotum)
Noncommunicating hydrocele: Collection of fluid within a tunica vaginalis that hasproperly obliterated its communication with the peritoneum.
Hydrocele will transilluminate while other masses will not.
Most hydroceles, both communicating and noncommunicating, will resolve spontaneously by age 12 months, after which they should be surgically corrected.
