lymphatics Flashcards
what are the 7 regional lymph nodes?
occipital retroauricular parotid buccal (facial) submandibular submental anterior cervical (superficial cervical)
where do the lymphatics enter the circulatory system?
just prior to the internal jugular and subclavian intersection
where is the occipital node located?
at the apex of posterior triangle and superficial to trapezius muscle
what drains into the occipital node and where do the efferents drain?
afferent: back of scalp
efferent: deep cervical lymph nodes
retroauricular (mastoid) lymph node afferent and efferents
afferents: strip of scalp above auricle, and posterior external auditory meatus
efferents: deep cervical nodes
where is the retroauricular lymph node located?
superficial to SCM and mastoid process and deep to auricularis posterior muscle
parotid lymph nodes
superficial parotid nodes afferent and efferent
afferent: strip of scalp above the parotid gland, lateral surface of auricle, anterior wall of external acoustic meatus, lateral part of eye lid
efferent: deep cervical nodes (jugulo-digastric)
parotid lymph nodes
deep parotid nodes efferent and afferent
afferent: middle ear
efferent: deep cervical nodes (jugulo-digastric)
location of buccal lymph node
on the surface of buccinator muscle in relation to facial vein
afferent and efferents of buccal(facial) lymph node
afferent: lower eye lid, part of cheek, buccinator muscle, facial vein
* *efferent: submandibular lymph node then to deep cervical lymph nodes
submandibular lymph node afferent and efferents
afferent: front of scalp, nose and adjacent cheek, upper lip, lower lip (not center), frontal, max, ethmoid sinus, upper and lower teeth(not mand incisors), anterior 2/3 tongue (not tip), floor or mouth, vestibule and gums
efferent: deep cervical lymph nodes
submental lymph node afferent and efferent
afferent: tip of tongue, floor of mouth under tip of tongue, mand. incisors and gums, center of lower lip, skin over chin
efferent: submandibular node, deep cervical lymph nodes
* *jugulo-omohyoid nodes**
superficial cervical lymph nodes afferent and efferents
afferent: skin over the angle of mandible, skin over apex of parotid and lobule of ear
efferent: deep cervical lymph nodes
posterior of tongue lymphatic drains where?
jugulodigastric node
anterior of tongue lymphatic drains where?
first to submandibular then to jugulo-digastric node
