female Repro week 5 test 2 Flashcards
ovaries are held in place by what ligaments
- Ovarian
- suspensory
- mesovarium
Uterine wall three layers
- perimetrium(visceral peritoneum)
- myometrium
- endometrium
what are the two subdivisions of the broad ligament
- vesicouterine pouch, between bladder and uterus
2. rectouterine pouch, between rectum and uterus
vascular supply of the ovaries, uterus, and vagina
ovaries-ovarian arteries from the ascending aorta
uterine and vaginal arteries come from the internal ileac artery
perineum borders
between the pubic symphysis and coccyx and then on the lateral sides are the ischial tuberosities
what are the two triangles of the perineum?
anteriorly is the urogenital triangle
posteriorly is the anal triangle
what are the superficial perineal muscles?
ischiocavernosus most lateral
bulbosongiosus next to genitalia
superficial trans perineal(separates the triangles)
external anal sphincter
what are the deep perineal muscles?
deep trans perineal muscle levator ani (all the muscle in the anal triangle other than the external anal sphincter)
What are the external genitalia?
mons pubis labia majora labia minora vestibule-recess between labia minora clitoris
what are the parts of the clitoris?
- erectile tissue hooded by prepuce
- crura of the clitoris erectile tissue
- glans clitoris is the exposed portion
- bulb of vestibule( arguable not part of the clitoris) extends posteriorly along just under the labia minora
what do the greater vestibular glands do and where are they located?
they release mucus into the vestibule for lube
homologous to the bulbourethral gland in males
located just posterior to bulb of vestibule
vaginal sensory innervation
upper 1/2 is visceral innervation
lower 1/2 is pudendal nerve(somatic)
the Pudendal nerve
from ventral rami S2-S4
sensory- is perineum
motor- is perineal muscles
Clitoris innervation
- somatic sensation is pudendal nerve (S2-S4), pressure, vibration, touch, temperature
- Parasympathetic: Pelvic splanchnic nerves (S2-S4) clitoral erection
- Orgasm: pudendal nerve (S2-S4) rhythmic contraction of perineal muscles
- *pudendal nerve is somatic, but ANS axons travel with it.**
