Fine crackles vs Coarse Crackles

A

: Fine crackles; high pitched, popping lungs sounds
- sound like wood burning in a fireplace
- start at the base of the lungs, where there is fluid

: Coarse Crackle; loud and longer coarse rattling sound
- sounds pouring water out a bottle
- heard on the anterior or posterior chest wall
