- Lateral surface
- Articulates with head of the femur
- Best landmark for lateral
Pubic symphysis
Fibrocartilage disc between pubic bones
Connects the two Os Coxa anteriorly
Parts of the ilium
iliac crest
Upper brim and most superior ridge
Parts of the ilium
Greater sciatic notch
For sciatic nerve
* Inferior to the posterior inferior iliac spine
* Large deep posterior notch
* This is the best landmark for posterior
Parts of the ischium
Ishial spine
Inferior to greater sciatic notch
Parts of the ischium
Ischial tuberosity
- Posterior projection you sit on
- Inferior to the ischial spine
Parts of the ischium and pubis
Obturator foramen
- Formed by ischial and pubic rami
- Largest foramen in the entire body
Differences between male and female Os Coxa

Male has a shorter distanced pelvic outlet
Female has a long distanced pelvic outlet
