Malignant hyperthermia
An inherited muscle disorder. Caused by anesthesia drugs, usually succinylcholine.
S/sx:
High Fever!
tachycardia
Muscle rigidity
Hypoxia (acidosis)
Dark urine
Hyperthermia (last stage).
Normal urine output
30 ml per hour for adults.
720 ml per 24 hour.
Or to be accurate: 0.5ml/kg/hr
Best indicator of intestinal function
Passing of stool and presence of bowel sounds.
What does MAP (mean arterial pressure) indicate?
It tells you about tissue perfusion. MAP needs to be atleast 60 to maintain adequate perfusion

Peak level
Refers to the highest concentration of a drug.
Peak level is drawn about 1 hour after first dose of medication was given.
