Digoxin level
0.8 - 2
Peak drug serum
HIGHEST CONCENTRATION of a drug
30 minutes after start of infusion
Trough drug serum
LOWEST CONCENTRATION of a drug.
5 minutes before next infusion (last ending part of current infusion)
Pheochromocytoma
Tumor of adrenal that causes headache, diaphoresis and palpitations
Aldosteronism affects this level
Potassium
Vasopressin
Promotes vasoconstriction but can also lead to angina and MI.
RN can give prn nitroglycerin if needed.
Monitor this level when administering Nitroprusside sodium
Thiocyanate level
Complication of long bone fractures or surgery that causes SOB, petechiae on chest/armpit
Fat embolism
Allen’s test
Used to assess circulation of extremity prior to Arterial Line insertion.
Central Venous Pressure (CVP)
Measures blood return (pressure) to the heart back to arterial system.
Normal is 2-6 mmHg
Low CVP means hypovolemia.

Phosphate level
1.7 - 2.6

Buerger’s disease
aka thromboangiitis obliterans caused by smoking. Bluish fingers from reduced blood flow
