Light Microscopy and Resolution ( subsection of 3.1) Flashcards
1
Q
What is resolution
A
It is the minimum distance between two objects where they can still be seen as two separate objects
2
Q
What is the limit of resolution for light microscopes?
A
200 nm
3
Q
Why is using light microscopes limiting?
A
We would be unable to see objects that are closer than the wavelength of light which is 200nm
4
Q
What happens if we increase the magnification beyond the limit of resolution?
A
It doesn’t provide clearer images but makes the image larger and more blurry
