Ligaments of the Shoulder Flashcards
Superior Glenohumeral
O: Upper part of the glenoid margin and adjacent labrum of the scapula
I: upper surface of the lesser tubercle of the humerus
Limitation: Lateral rotation
Middle Glenohumeral
O: middle part of the glenoid margin and adjacent labrum of the scapula
I: Lesser tubercle of the humerus
Limitation: Lateral rotation
Inferior Glenohumeral
O: lower aspect if the glenoid margin and adjacent labrum of the scapula
I: anterioinferior aspect of the anatomical neck of the humerus.
Limitation: Lateral rotation and possible limitation of abduction in its outer range.
Transverse Humeral
O: greater tubercle of the humerus
I: lesser tubercle of the humerus
Limitation: bridges the gap between the 2 tubercles, thus holding the long head of the biceps tendon in the intertubercular groove.
Coracohumeral
O: coracoid process of the scapula
I: anterior part of the ligament attaches to the lesser tubercle. Posterior part attaches to the greater tubercle of the humerus.
Limitation: Blends with the capsule to enhance the capsular strength
coracoacromial
O: Lateral border of the coracoid process of the scapula
I: anterior aspect of the acromion of the scapula, in front of the acromioclavicular joint
Limitation: limits upwards migration of the humerus.
