Gluteus Maximus

A

O: Gluteal surface of the ilium, iliac crest of the innominate (hip) bone, coccyx, sacrum and sacrotuberous ligament
I: Gluteal tuberosity of the femur (1/4), (3/4) from the iliotibial tract
N: inferior gluteal nerve L5, S1, S2.
A: Extension of the hip, extension of the knee - through the iliotibial tract

Gluteus Medius

A

O: Gluteal surface of the ilium, between the posterior and anterior gluteal lines of the innominate bone.
I: Superolateral side of the greater trochanter of the femur
N: Superior gluteal nerve L4, L5, S1
A: Abduction and medial rotation of the hip

O: Gluteal surface of the ilium, in front of the anterior and above the inferior gluteal lines of the innominate bone.
I: Anterosuperior aspect of the greater trochanter of the femur.
N: Superior gluteal nerve L4, L5, S1
A: Abduction and medial rotation of the hip
