Never back up a truck with someone on the riding steps.
Never reverse unless all helpers are visible and no helpers are on riding steps

Never back a dual drive truck from right side without the proper mirrors, camera(s)/monitors.
Never back without motorized mirrors, rear camera, and swivel mounted monitor.
18.1 Dual Drive Operating Requirements

Never exceed the speed limits posted or set by policy for school zones, riding steps, and stand up right-side driving
School Zone: Observe the posted speed limit
Riding Step: Do not allow Personnel to ride outside of the cab if the truck is traveling over 10 mph or traveling farther than 0.2 miles (app. 2 blocks)

Never operate the truck over 20 mph
Never travel greater than 0.25 miles between stops

EXCEPTION?
Always comply with seat belt rules
Occupants of WM vehicles or vehicles used for WM business must wear seat belts at all times. Includes:
Anytime vehicle is in motion
Hoisting roll off containers
Tractor Trailer-which requires the trailer to be raised in order to discharge load
Body styles that are half-pack-which requires the body to be raised to discharge load (partial Eject)

EXCEPTION: One person residential route when the driver is the one servicing customers

Never zigzag
Operating vehicles against traffic flow is prohibited. Constant back and forth across lane movements.

Never double side unless approved by a DM and specific conditions are met.
Strictly prohibited . Not an alternative to zigzagging.

Never modify or disable equipment safety devices
Prohibited to change, disable, disconnect, or modify equipment.
Manufacturers approval must be obtained before any changes are made.
Authorized and specially trained technicians must perform the work.

Always comply with tipping floor or workface rules
Do not allow helper out of the cab in the tipping area. Only the driver can exit the truck in the work zone. Helpers are to remain in the truck or at the scale house when at the disposal location and must follow the sites written procedures and posted signs.

Always apply parking brakes when exiting a vehicle
Must apply parking brake when parking. Must ensure brakes are holding the vehicle from moving before exiting the vehicle. Not to use parking brake to slow or stop the vehicle. Not to use hand control valve or work brake for parking.
