Asperger’s syndrome

- higher end of autistic spectrum
- more male than female are diagnosed (10 to 1)
- live in our world but in their own way (autistic “live in their own world’)
- poor non-verbal communication
- naive, inappropriate, one sided interaction
- pedantic, repetitive speech
- lack of empathy w/ others
- little/no ability to form friendships
- intense absorption in certain subjects
- clumsy, ill coordinated movements and odd postures
- does not affect someone’s intelligence
- peculiar language
- loners who never quite fit in
- generally very keen to develop social relationships but lack the ability to understand social rules and cultural signals
- find it hard to maintain eye contact thus cannot interpret eye language
- cannot read between the lines

-mixture of rising and descending lines coupled w/ jerky movements and spasmodic large white spaces are often indicators of depression

- spacing between words = how close/distant from others the writer feels as well as their need for personal space; also their emotional need
- wide spaces btwn words may be a barrier/obstruction btwn writer and others and can indicate a socially isolated person that is lonely and wants to make social contact, but is unaware how to do it
