Lecture 7, part 4 Flashcards

1
Q

Questions to consider in evaluating cohort studies

A

How were the study groups selected or defined? (How much selection bias was present?)
Were the data accurate, and was data collection comparable for all study groups? (How much information bias was present?)
How complete was the f/u of both groups?
Were potential confounding factors sought and controlled for in the analysis?

Q

What to consider in evaluation with selection and definition of study groups

A

Were only ppl at risk of the outcome included?
Was the exposure clear, specific, and measurable?

Q

What to consider in evaluation with data accurate and comparable data collection

A

Was the outcome clear, specific, and measurable?
Was the outcome identified in the same way for both groups?
Was determination of the outcome made by an observer blinded as to exposure?
