Lecture 47: Water Balance Flashcards
What are the Thirst receptors?
Osmoreceptors
Where is the osmoreceptor located?
Anteroventral region of Third ventricle
What stimulates the thirst from osmoreceptor?
Increase in blood osmolality
Changes in blood osmolality are detected by small structures in the forebrain called? (2 structures)
Subfornical organ and OVLT
How is Intracellular dehydration corrected?
Water consumption
How is Extracellular dehydration corrected?
Consumption of water and salt
Where are the Baroreceptors located?
In the carotid and right atrium
What nuclei release ADH?
Supraoptic and paraventricular
The volume of ECF is largely determined by?
Body sodium content
What is Polyurea?
High urine flow rate, over 3 liters a day
How does the Bladder push the urine downwards?
Parasympathetic peristaltic contractions
Where do the ureters penetrate the wall of the bladder?
Obliquely
What motorly innervates the External Sphincter?
The Pudendal nerves
What motorly innervates the internal sphincter?
The Pelvic nerve
Which brain center is mainly inhibitors to the micturition reflex?
The Cerebral cortex
What causes bed wetting in children?
Incomplete myelination of motor nerve fibers, thus micturition ruined
When does one feel a need to pee, in terms of bladder fullness?
At 150ml
At what point is the bladder full?
At 300-400ML
What is the neural control of micturition?
Spinal cord
