- attitude toward behaviour
- subjecgtive norm (context/culture that a infividual functions within)
- perceived behaviour control
intention impacts behaviour which is also impacted by perceived behaviour control
health belief model
health behaviours is affected by
* perceived threat (susceptibility and severity)
* perveived benefits/barriers (gain or lose)
* cues to action (external/internal)
* self efficacy (belief in self ability to do behaviour)
issues with health belief model
- very static
- assumes humans are ration decison makers
- oversimplifies role of the threat
- limited account of social factors
- doesn’t account for emotions
critique of theory of planned behaviour
- doesn’t account for emotions
- intention doesn’t always lead to behaviour
