Lab Final- Special Senses Flashcards
Describe

Mucopurulent discharge
Red/neo vascularization
Ulcer with corneal opacity
MDx

Ulcerative keratitis or corneal ulcers
DDx

Primary causes-
Moraxella bovis(this picture) or
Viral Agents (BVD, Herpes Virus(MCF or IBR))
Secondary cause-
bacterial infections due to trauma
What prediposes to Moraxella bovis?
Dry conditions
poorly pigmented skin
Describe
MDx

Describe-
growth on califlower like mass, pigmented, corneal opacity, neovascularization
MDX: keratitis
Mass would either be a neoplasm(Melanoma or Sebecous gland adenoma) or inflammation( Chalazion- granulatmous inflammation of meibomian gland)
MDx

Mdx: Multifocal corneal opacity or Florida spots

Meibomian gland adenoma

Early corneal endothelial dystrophy that leads to multifocal degeneration
Growth outward- bilaterally symmetrical
MDx

MDx: corneal lipid deposit
Also keratitis
Crystaline
Describe

Corneal opacity
Bubthalima (buldging eye)
Mdx, condition, and potential cause

Mdx- glaucoma or bulbthalmia
Condition- glaucoma
Potential cause- fluid leaks into corneal stroma
Young german shepard
Describe

redish/pink Semi-lunar slightly elevated plaque-like mass from the lateral limbus toward center of the cornea
MDx and disease

Mdx:Chronic superfical keratitis
Disease name- Pannus
DDX

SCC
Describe

Exudate in anterior chamber, iris is very thick,
MDx

Lymphoma!- give away is the diffuse involvment and no pigmentation
Exudate is common

Retina is detacted with white stuff under retina;
Granulamatous choro-retinitis in a cat that had cryptococcus
Caused by either 1-foreign body, 2- fungus, 3- viral(FIP) 4- higher bacteria
DDx: Sub-retinal lymphoma
Describe

Plaque on cornea; neovascularization, corneal opacity
MDX

keratitis

Feline eosinophilic keratitis
MDX
potential cause

MDX: chronic otitis externa
Potential causes: Malasezia, Proteus, Staph, Pseudomonas
Consequences: pendulous ears, hairy ear canal
