how do rabbits digest food?
the first time they eat it goes through the to stomach, small intestine and large intestine and cecum then large intestine agin to be pooped out.
- it goes to the cecum to get protien, microbes and mucus mixed in
- they poop it out calling it cecotropes (grapes/raspberries) then they eat it agian and it stays in their stomachs for hours to ferment then it goes out again
how do pigeon digest food?
the stomach has 2 parts
chemical: proventriculus
mechanical: gizzard (small stones or course sand swallowed to break up the food)
what is the pyloric region/portion of the stomach do?
the spincter controls the how the emptying of the stomach
what is the colic ceca and which animal(s) have it?
absorbs water and helps digest fibre from diet
what is the cecum and which animal(s) have it?
Rabbits, helps the ferment the vegetables in their diet
what is the spleen used for?
filters blood, sends out white blood cells for infections
