What is a Keratoacanthoma?
A
- KA is a common, rapidly growing, locally destructive skin tumour

What are the risk factors for Keratoacanthoma?
A
- Fair-skinned people
- Over age of 60
- Common in Australia
-Immunocompromised - Excessive Phototherapy
- UV light
- Chemical carcinogens ( cigarette smoking, industrial workers exposed to tar)
- HPV

What are the Clinical Features of Keratoacanthoma?
A
- A solitary, rapidly growing nodule
- Sun-exposed skin
- Sharply demarcated, firm, erythematous or skin-coloured
- A classic central hyperkeratotic plug
- Removal of the keratotic core will leave a crater like appearance to the lesion

- Scarring
- Destruction of adjacent structures
- Ulceration
- Bleeding

A
- history and examination
- Histopathology

- Amelanotic Melanoma
- Nodular Basal Cell Carcinoma

- ## Treat as a SCC and excise them
