Q
Rib Counting and Inspiration
A
CXR’s should be made when the patient is in full inspiration.
We can count ribs to determine inspiration. We should see 6 anterior ribs, and 8 posterior ribs.
2
Q
Clavicle Positioning
A
The clavicles show us the rotation of the patient. Clavicles should be equal distance from the midline.
3
Q
Hilar Vessels
A
The left hilum is normally above the right hilum
If the right hilum is higher, this is a sign of something abnormal.
4
Q
Diaphragm Height
A
The right diaphragm is typically higher than the left.
5
Q
Costophrenic Angles
A
Positioned at the lateral sides of the patient just above the diaphragm
Blunted costophrenic angles indicate pleural effusions
