Pulmonary Hypertension
An increase of the blood pressure in the pulmonary vasculature leading to shortness of breath, dizziness, fainting, and leg swelling.
Types of Pulmonary Hypertension
WHO Group I - pulmonary arterial hypertension
WHO Group II - pulmonary hypertension owing to left heart disease
WHO Group III - pulmonary hypertension owning to lung disease
WHO Group IV - chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH)
WHO Group V - pulmonary hypertension with unclear multifactorial mechanisms
Pulmonary Arterial Pressure
Typically quite low.
The mean pressure is typically 9-18 mmHg.
Idiopathic Pulmonary Hypertension
A rare disease characterized by elevated pulmonary artery pressure with no apparent cause.
