What is “neutral thinking”? Why is it beneficial?
Neutral thinking is truth-based narrative.
It is beneficial primarily because it avoids the proven downsides of negative thinking.
Judgement free, just the facts.
How do champions behave as it relates to choice?
They behave as if they have no choice. The path to success is clear and obvious in most cases, there is no choice. CHOICE IS AN ILLUSION.
They make a detailed plan
They visualize what they want
They lead themselves before others
How do you think about the next behavior?
It is within our control, and is independent of the past.
How bad are negative thoughts relative to positive thoughts?
Why do we focus on these things?
Why are they bad?
Negative thoughts are 7x more powerful than positive thoughts.
We focus on them because evolutionarily, focus on what may happen and negative risk kept you alive.
Negative thoughts are bad because they are self-fulfilling. Verbalizing negative thoughts affects you 100% of the time.
What are the three keys to having neutral thoughts?
1) Eliminating negative thoughts.
2) Do not verbalize negativity.
3) Eliminate negative external stimuli
What are the four problems with external stimulus like news, music, and weak conversations?
1) Creates internal pessimism
2) Reversion to the past
3) Causes anxiety and poor sleep
4) Causes hyper-emotion
What are two ways to experience positive external stimulus?
1) Listen to positive songs that lift you up
2) Watch positive movies
What is the 5 step process to achieving your goals?
1) Set goals - Clarity is key, know the mission
2) What 3 behaviors will get you where you want to go? Write them down.
3) Make a game plan
4) Discuss sacrifice you’ll need to achieve the goal
5) Visualize both the sacrifices and achieving the goal daily.
