Why is fibre intake recommendation so low?
Because it can cause interference when it comes to absorption of minerals and essential nutrients
They can also fill the small stomach capacity of children and provide few nutrients/calories needed for active and growing child

- minimal saliva
- functions minimally and immature for the first 3 months of life
- liver function limited in first year
What helps babies break down milk?
Hydrochloric acid and rennin in the stomach
trypsin found in the intestines

Some fat and cholesterol
What should you limit giving your child?
- sodium
- food additives
