Progressive increase in the function of the body

Development in which a person matures or reaches full functionality

Assesses developmental status of children the first 6 years of life in 13 stages
What does NDDS assess for example?
Vision, hearing, speech and language, communication, cognitive, social, gross motor and fine motor skills
What can effect a child’s development and growth?

- socioeconomic status / homelessness
What is the erikson stages of development? How does it work?
- Tasks must be completed at each stage at achieve optimum maturity
- parents must interact with their child to assist the child in mastering various stages
