Comparison Question Test
Also called Probable Lie Comparison Test or Control Question Test
It is a deception test.
You will learn the following:
Federal ZCT
Federal “You Phase” or Bi-Zone ZCT

Peak of Tension Test
This is a recognition test.
Asks specific questions about the crime that only the investigator, examiner and guilty subject would know.
Basic Rules for Proper Relevant Question Formulation
Must be simple and direct.
Must not involve legal terminology.
Must be answerable only with a YES or NO.
NO is the preferrable answer.
Should be as short as possible.
Meaning must be clear and unmistakable.
Must be phrased in words that the examinee can easily understand.
Must NOT be in the form of an accusation.
Examinee would then believe the examiner has already formed an opinion about their truthfulness.
Must never contain an inference which presupposes knowledge on the part of the examinee.
Must refer to one single offense only (in a single question or test).
Must refer to only one element of an offense (in a single question).
Must ask each question in an even, monotone voice.
Must not be deliberately emotion-evoking.
Avoid adverbs or adjectives if possible.
“Did you brutally stab that man?”
SEMANTICS
Mutual understanding of the words used in the question
Mutual understanding of how those words are perceived.
Must ask what the examinee’s perception is of the discussed topics

Change in rhythm or regularity
