Intro Flashcards
What is macroscopic/gross anatomy?
Visual knowledge of the body structure
What is microscopic anatomy?
How tissues are assembled to form organs (histology of organs)
What does “Anatomy” come from?
Greek for cut through
What is organogenesis?
How the organ is developed/formed from foetus stage
What is systemic anatomy?
Anatomy of the systems of the body, organ systems
What is regional/topographical anatomy?
Anatomy based on regions of the body
What is functional anatomy?
Anatomy in its relation to function, study of the structure-function relationships
When does organogenesis start?
After gastrulation
What is macroscopic anatomy?
Observations made by measuring, looking at color and other variables. Often done by for example dissections
What is microscopic anatomy?
Requires use of instruments for for example magnification.
Observations on cells and tissues
What is topographical orientation?
The positioning of an organ in a region of the body and the examination of its relationships in the entire region
What is the surgical orientation=
Evaluation of the surgical access pathways to the organ, introduction of complex nomenclature ein continuous evolution
What is functional anatomy?
Provides information about the functioning of the structures of the body
What is the orthostatic position?
The same as the anatomical position
What is the clinostatic position?
When a subject is laying down (both on the back or the thorax)
