Strategically critical info from management information systems and includes data from external sources

Modular software packages designed to intergrate key processes in an organisation so a single system can serve info needs of all functional areas
What do ERP systems do?
Primarily support business operations (e.g. HR, finance, customer service)
How to ERP systems help improve custoemr order efficiency?
By improving the flow of info between business functions within an organisation
What do real-time operation of ERP systems ensure?
Exact status of everything is always available (e.g. SAP)
What is a customer relationship management system (CRM system)?
Software applications that specialise in providing information concerning on organisation’s products, services and customers
What does a CRM do?
Captures customer’s interactions with an organisation so this can be used to improve the organiastion’s understanding of the customer

What is big data?
Term given to extremely large collections of data that are available to organisaitons to analyse
What is volume?
Quantity of data now being produced is being driven by transactional-based data sets recorded by large organisations

Speed at which real time data is being streamed into the organisation
