heterophile antibodies react to give positive result
Paul-binnell tests
similar to monospot but RBC from sheep
how long for antibodies to be produced?
up to 6 weeks
what do EBV antibodies target?
viral capsid antigen
advice
avoid alcohol
avoid contact sport
rare but serious complication
splenic rupture
complications
glomerulonephritis
haemolytic anaemia
thrombocytopenia
chronic fatigue
