immunology 3 Flashcards
clonal expansion
T-cells and B-cells are monospecific so need to be cloned
contraction
apoptosis of cells bound to antigens, the cells that are left form the memory
B cell primary response
first exposure of naive B cell to antigen. IgM antibodies are produced
B cell secondary response
memory cells can respond very fast. IgG antibodies are produced rapidly
isotype switching
Helper T cells can switch what type of antigen they are producing based on the cytokine present
Th1 response
stimulate phagocytosis and degradation of microbes by APC, stimulate macrophages to produce oxygen radicals, stimulate production IgG
Th2 response
stimulate production of IgE, recruit eosinophils, stimulate tissue repair
Th17 response
support the epithelial barrier, promotes neutrophil recruitment
Ace2
helps virus get deeper into the lung
