ICE Tables Flashcards
What make strong electrolytes?
Strong acids, strong bases, or ionic compounds that readily dissolve in water (remember solubility rules)
Do strong electrolyte form equilibrium reactions (two arrows)
Nope. Arrow only goes one way
What make weak electrolytes?
Weak acids, weak bases, or ionic compounds that do NOT readily dissolve in water
Do weak electrolyte form equilibrium reactions (two arrows)?
Yes
What does ICE Table mean and what are they used for?
Initial, Change, Equilibrium
Used to calculate equilibrium of weak electrolytes
For the DAT only, when you put your ICE table values into K equation, what can you do with the ‘X’s on the bottom (reactants)?
Ignore them, cross them out
