Q

What is treatment for low blood pressure?

A

Vasoconstrictor sympathomimetics raise blood pressure by acting on alpha-adrenergic receptors to constrict peripheral vessels. They are used as an emergency method of elevating blood pressure when other measures have failed.
Although they raise blood pressure, they may also reduce perfusion of vital organs e.g. the kidney.
