- Q-risk assessment tool
What does the Q-risk assessement tool calculate
The estimated CVD risk within the next 10 years for patients who are 25 to 84
(including people with type 2)
Who can you not use Q-risk on?
-Patient who already have CVD
- Type 1 diabetes
-eGFR <60
-familial hypercholesteremia
-85>
What does the Q-risk score entail?
-ages, sex, ethnicity, postcode
-clinical info- smoking status, family history, systolic BP , height, weight, total cholesterol/HDL ratio from non-fasting blood sample
-Repeated every 5 years

How would a patient with a Q-risk score of greater than 10% be managed?What
Offer a statin if lifestyle modification is ineffective or inappropriate.
What drugs treatments should you offer primary prevention of CVD?
Atorvastatin 20mg a day
