What are Hunter-Gatherers?
People who lived by hunting small animals and gathering plants

What was the Neolithic Revolution/Era?
It was the time when a major change or shift occurred, which was them going from hunting small animals to producing their own food like crops and fruit
What was the main goal for the Hunter-Gatherers? How did they try to achieve this goal?
Their main goal was to SURVIVE. They did this by hunting, foraging, and always trying to improve their survival
2.5 million years ago humans learned how to make tools. What materials did they use and what types of weapons did they make with them?
They used stone and bones like antlers. They made weapons like spears and arrows.

They hunted larger animals like deer because the amount of meat would last longer and they would not have to go back out and hunt for a while.

The first humans had a ruff life
How did Hunter-Gatherers make their first tools?
They made their first tools by smashing rocks to make a jagged edge

Many elements that make up a way of life
What advantages did humans have with using fire?
The used it for warmth, light, cooking, and a weapon
Hunter-Gatherers lived in small groups, about how many adults and children lived in these small groups?
About 10-12 adults and children
Hunter-Gatherers never stayed in just one place, so what would they use as shelter? (Remember they had to be Creative!)
Caves and they would make little huts out of animal skins, straw, and sticks
What were the men’s and women’s responsibilities?
The men hunted large animals like deer and the women gathered nuts, seeds, fruit, berries, and grain
What were the Neanderthals named after?
They were named after a valley called Neander Valley where their fossils and bones were found
What are the similarities between the Neanderthals and Modern Humans?
They both made their own tools, used fire, and hunted for food
What are the differences between the Neanderthals and Modern Humans?
Modern humans were taller and less muscular and developed skills like complex language Neanderthals couldn’t speak a language, so instead they made sounds like a croak of a burp
What advantages did Modern humans have with a complex language?
They could organize a hunt better, warn off danger, or pass on information or skills to their young
Modern Humans lived on the planet for thousands of years, but what happened to the Neanderthals?
Some archeologists believed they were overpowered by the Modern Humans and died out but, some other archeologists believe they mixed in with the modern humans
According to some archeologists, what beliefs did the Neanderthals share with Modern Humans?
The Neanderthals and Modern humans both believed in the afterlife
