Q

What are some landforms in the regions of the United States

A

Appalachian Moutains
Southeast and northeast
The Great Plains of the Midwest, southwest, west regions
The Columbia Plateau in the west region

21
Q

What is the largest river

A

The Mississippi River

22
Q

What is in the northeast region of the United States

A

Big cities like NYC, Philadelphia and coastlines and farmland

23
Q

What is in the Southeast region??

A

Early settlers build large farms called plantations.
The coastlines People fish And go to the beach
Inland soil is rich

24
Q

What is in the Midwest region?

A

Flattest areas of the US many work on farms other people mine or Dig for minerals.
There also the Great Lakes

25
Q

What is in the West region?

A

Mountainous environment. Rocky Mountains, Coast range, Alaska range, beaches

26
Q

Explain what might cause people in a region to work as farmers?

A

If the region has rich soil and flatlands like the southeast.

27
Q

Choose one region of the US. How do you landforms affect with some activities people do.?

A

In the southeast people fish the beaches and farm in the rich soil.
In the Northeast people can walk in the mountains and Camp.
In the Midwest people farm
In the west people can go mountain climbing and skiing and go to the beaches.

28
Q

What is a tropical climate?

A

The area is wet and hot most of the year.

29
Q

What is a temperate climate?

A

The area is not as cold as Arctic climate or as hot as tropical climates. Most of the US is in a temperate climate region.

30
Q

What is a Desert Climate?

A

There is a little little rainfall, temperature in the day is hot temperature at night is cold.

31
Q

What are four types of vegetation?

A

Forests, grasslands, Tundra, and desert.

32
Q

What characteristics does each type of vegetation have And what animals are there?

A

Forests-need plenty of rain, animals such as bears of raccoons and deer live there.

Grasslands-tall or short grasses, prairie dogs live there.

Tundra-the ground is almost frozen all your long Moss and lichens grow there are no trees polar bears, Penguins.

Desert-they need only small amount of water, saguaro cactus grow their Desert tortoise.

33
Q

What are some ecosystems and how do the animals affect the vegetation?

A

In deserts the lesser long end nosed bats drink nectar from the cactus flowers and spread pollen

In the grasslands of Africa grass can grow up to 7 feet high and elephants eat them

In Lake and swamp ecosystems alligators dig large pond like holes that provide shallow water for birds fish.

34
Q

Explain the affect the climate has on vegetation it goes in a region. Give an example

A

The temperature in the amount of rainfall affect the types of plants that can live in a place.
A lot of warm rain falling in an area causes a lot of vegetation to grow. Like grasslands
Cold places that are dry have small or no vegetation. Like the tundra

35
Q

How do physical maps show elevation?

A

By using different colors and showing what those colors mean in the key of the map.

36
Q

Write an effect of recycling items you use every day

A

Factories can recycle materials to make new products instead of using more natural resources

37
Q

What is a cause of pollution?

A

Farms and factories using chemicals that can pollute the air in nearby waterways.

38
Q

Describe a natural resource use most

A

Water, what do you use it for

39
Q

What is cause and effect?

A

Cause is when something happen and the effect is the outcome or result of what happens.

40
Q

What are some words that can help you identify causes

A

Since, then, and now

41
Q

Describe an effect of living in cold snowy climate

A

People might see or go sledding people might drive snowmobiles to get from place to place.

42
Q

What is adapt?

A

To change the way you do something.

43
Q

What is modify?

A

To change something, such as the physical environment.

44
Q

What is irrigate?

A

To bring water in through pipes to water crops.

45
Q

How do farmers modify their land?

A

By building dams, and making irrigation systems to water the crops

46
Q

How do people modify the land?

A

Building roads and rail lines.

47
Q

List three ways people help the environment

A

People rotate crops
Form state or national parks
Use cars that don’t pollute the air

48
Q

Explain a Law that helps the environment?

A

Laws that punish people for throwing garbage on the ground help keep the environment clean
