What is a CAUSE?
A cause is something people feel strongly about.
For example, people work for world Peace, others protect the Earth, and some groups raise money for research to help cure diseases.
What is a UNION?
A groups of workers that join together.
The workers usually want better treatment and better pay.
What is a MOTTO?
A motto is a saying.
For example, VIVA LA CAUSA, “LONG LIVE THE CAUSE”

What is a STRIKE?
When workers stop working until things change
What is a BOYCOTT?
When people refuse to do something for a reason.
For example, Chávez asked customers to stop eating grapes. And stores to stop selling grapes because farm owners were not treating workers fairly.
Why was Mary McLeod Bethune’s case an important one?
Mary McLeod Bethune’s case was very important because she wanted African Americans to be good citizens, so they could work in the community also.
She taught them how to read, write, sew, cook and clean.
She wanted to give African American people a chance to go to school.
Why is it important for people to stand up for causes they believe?
It is important to stand up for the causes they believe in because when they see something wrong they will try to change that and the world will get better.
