what is the difference between mechanical and chemical digestion?
mechanical has to do with size and chemical has bonds breaking
where does mechanical and chemical digestion take place?
mechanical- in the oral cavity, chemical- the small intestine
what is the path of blood in the body and heart?
the arteries bring blood away from the heart, and veins bring blood towards the heart
what are the parts of the heart?
left side deals with deoxygenated blood, right side deals with oxygenated blood from the lungs, atriums and ventricles squeezing and relaxing to fill the other one up
what is a capillary?
the smallest vessels and the site of gas exchange
what are three functions of the blood?
transport, protection and regulation
what are the parts of the respiratory system?
nose, mouth, throat, voice box, windpipe, lungs, and diaphragm
what are red blood cells?
solid portion of the blood, carry oxygen because of the presence of hemoglobin, produced in the red marrow, no nuclei
what are the parts of the immune system?
white blood cells, antibodies, lymphatic system, spleen,
bone marrow
what are the organs of the excretory system?
kidneys, nephrons, bladder, urethra, ureters, lungs, skin, liver
how do the kidneys purify the blood?
blood passes through the nephrons in the kidney and filters out waste
