Hormones are carried in the [ ] to other parts of the body, but only affect particular cells ( called [ ] ) in particular places.
Blood plasma
Target cells
What do hormones control?
Things in organs and cells that need constant adjustment
Where are hormones produced? How fast do they travel?
Hormones produced and secreted by various glands.
They ravel through the body at ‘the speed of blood’
Hormones tend to have relatively [ ] effects

What two ways can things get around the body? What do they do? (General)
Nervous or hormonal system
They both carry information and instructions about the body
What are the differences between the Nervous and hormonal system
Nerves: Very fast message. Hormones: Slower message
N: Act for a very short time. H: Act for a long time
N: Act on a very precise area. H: Act in a more general way
Which system would be used if you got a pain signal?
The inflammation needs to be passed on to effectors really quickly so you need to use the nervous system
If a response lasts for a long time, it’s probably [ ].
Hormonal
If the response is really quick, it’s probably [ ]
Nervous
