what are riffles
A
most common weapon -boit or bolt action riffle
- > made deadlier - increased range/accuracy/rate of fire - can kill a kilometre away - five dozen bullets per minute

A
- most devastating weapons
- 400-600 per min
- replaced 100 soldiers w/ riffles

A
- some protection for the crew conditions were pretty rough
- alot of heat inside, fumes chocked me inside
- often broke down

what is artillery
A
- large/ powerful guns located behind front lines
- can fire a variety of shells i.e high explosives, anti personal, poisoned gas
- larger pieces cab fire shells 100kms

what are planes
A
new technologies- flight invented a few years ago before WW1
- made of canvas and wood
- used for reconnaissance then evolved for dog fighting and bombing enemy positions
- pilots had no parachute
- > short life expectancy

What are Zeppelins
A
- giant airships, similar to blimp
- developed and used by Germans
- for reconnaissance and bombing raids
- carried machine guns and Haley payload bombs
- fell out -> easy targets

What is poisoned gas
A
- used by Germans in 1915 against France and Canada (Ypres)
- three main types: chlorine, mustard, phosgene
- some gas suffocate/burned/destroyed skin + tissue
- > protect by breathing through urine soaked rags
- > gas mask developed later

A
- used by all major powers
- powered by desial engines on surface and batteries while submerged
- German u boat caused a lot of problems for the allied war effort thoughtful the war
