What is primary evidence

A

Evidence that comes the time of the events
Has eye witness quality
Ex. Diary, letter, song, film

What is secondary evidence

A

Created after the event
- based on primary evidence
Ex. Books, magazine articles, documentary films
- includes author interpretation and biases

How are historians like detectives

A
  • relate evidence about an event
  • determine weather it is fact or inference
  • check bias
  • put all info together, analyze then draw a conclusion
  • finish w/ a thesis or explanation

  • different views of some events

  • ppl may make a story sound better or worse then reality
  • history is usually written by dominate groups or people
