Theca interna
What does the theca enterna do?
Secretes oestrogen precursors
Which cells covert oestrogen precursors to oestrogen?
Granulosa cells
What does the follicle transform into?
Corpus luteum
What does the corpus luteum become if there is no implantation?
Corpus albicans
What prevents degeneration of the corpus luteum?
HCG secreted by the placenta
What are the 2 layers of the endometrium?
Stratum functionalis & stratum basalis
What type of epithelium makes up the vaginal surface of the cervix?
Stratified squamous epithelium
What does the stratified squamous epithelium transition into in the cervix?
Mucous secreting simple columnar epithelium
What is the labia majora an extension of?
Mons pubis
What is the structure of the labia minora?
Rich in vasculature & sebaceous glands
