a measure of the burden of diseases, 1 DALY= 1 year of healthy life lost due to premature death or time lived with illness, disease or injury

self assessed health status
an overall measure of a populations health based on a persons own perceptions of their health
burden of diseases
a measure of the impact or diseases and injuries. specifically it measures the gap between current health status and an ideal situation where everyone lives to an old age free of diseases and disability
HALE
health adjusted life expectancy=
a measure of burden of diseases, based on LE at birth but includes an adjustment for time spent in poor health. Its the number of years in full health a person can expect to live based on current rates of ill-health and mortality
infant mortality rate
the number of deaths among children under 1 year in a given period per 1000 live births in the same period
under 5 mortality rate
the number of deaths of children under 5 years of age per 1000 live births
maternal mortality
refers to the number of deaths of women due to pregnancy or childbirth related complications
mortality
the number of deaths caused by a particular disease, illness or other environmental factor
morbidity
refers to ill health in an individual or the levels of ill health in a population or group
