two sub-families: Cercopithecinae and Colobinae; Africa, Indian, Asia-most widely dist. of all nonhuman primates; lrgr body size than Platyrrhini- similar locomotion; less specialized behaviors/locomotion; both arboreal/terrestrial species- basic quadrupedal locomotor styles(no vertical clinging/leaping); No prehensile tail-used like rudders instead; no true brachiation; great hand dexterity; All have trichromatic vision-all diurnal
