Broad spectrum bacteriostatic & bactericidal. SMZ a sulfa drug. SE: can–> crystalluria so keep well hydrated. Can–> blood dycrasias, also kernicterus in newborn so avoid pregnancy.

Bladder muscle stimulant, promotes contraction. Cholinergic effect. Treatment of retention. SE: due to cholinergic effect lower BP, Pulse, increase salivation and diarrhea, bronchoconstriction, asthma flare up.
