What is collective identity?
collective identity: team recognised easily as they wear same uniform/ colour. Develop affiliation creates motivation.
What is interaction?
-players work together to complete task, are they took loud/ quiet. Playful/serious.
What is communication?
-non verbal and verbal
-coded play
What are shared goals/ purpose?
-achieving shared goal/ target helps bind people together so they can commit.

What is forming?
develop social relationships
-reliant on coach to bring group together
-figure out goal
What is storming?
-conflict as people establish roles
-confrontation with leader
What is norming?
-conflict resolved: unifies and focuses team on achieving goals.
-standards are accepted
-motivation/ success rises
What is performing?
Common goals- team support each other and their goals.
-motivation is high
-respect for other members and group leaders.
How long will it take?
Time taken in each stages- settled teams accept new players quickly while representative teams take longer to settle.
Difference between task and social cohesion?
Task- focus on goals ahead- success (winning the league)- helps social cohesion.
Social- supporting each other no matter results/ success.
