Definition of anxiety:
a negative aspect of stress characterized by irrational thinking, loss of concentration and fear of failure.
Two types of anxiety are:
Competitive state
Competitive Trait
Which one is constant and explain why?
Competitive trait: this is a personality type and occurs when a performer is constantly worrying about performance every game
What is competitive state:
This is when a situation has occurred (situation dependent) making a performer temporarily rush of anxiety.
How will they in two ways respond to the anxiety? (muscle- thinking)
-Cognitively: psychological worries, loss of concentration, irrational thinking.
-Somatically: physiological aspects, muscular tension, sweating, loss of coordination.
Three causes of anxiety:
-being watched
-fear of injury
-letting the team down (coming off the bench)
Evaluate questionnaires as a way to measure anxiety:

-allow easy comparison

-Misinterpretation of questions
Evaluate observations as a way to measure anxiety:
