GrönaL. + sk.holm +KTotn Flashcards
Straight ahead.. (Gröna Lund)
Straight ahead we have Gröna Lund. Sweden’s oldest amusement park. Opened in 1883. Back then there were no bridges. You had to be rowed here from Södermalm straight ahead or the Old Town to have a nice evening.
Gröna Lund alltså. Sveriges äldsta nöjesfält som öppnade 1883.
OM DU HINNER; They also have a famous scene - big artists has performed over the years. Eric Clapton, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Lady Gaga, Anna Book…
The most talked about performance is still when Jimi Hendrix came to town in the late 60´s. He played so loud and never wanted to stop! The only way to get Hendrix off the stage was by pulling the power and that’s exactly what the somewhat panicking Grona Lund program-manager did in 1967.
The island you see… (Skeppsholmen)
Om du behöver fylla ut - SKEPPSHOLMEN
The island you see to your left is Skeppsholmen -means ship island. The name comes from the fact that this was once Stockholm’s naval station - a base for the navy’s ships, for over three hundred years.
To your left (…) the Kings Towers
Om du behöver fylla ut - KUNGSTORNEN – börja strax innan Junibacken så man ser tornen.
To your left you can see two towers – Kungstornen” The Kings Towers”.
Hold on to yourself - this was Europe’s first skyscrapers. Built in the early 1920 and they had some really ambitious plans - to use the roof as a dock for airships. The plan didn’t last long.
