A

> Tendinopathy of gluteus medius/minimus (sometimes with bursal pathology)
abnormal hip biomechanics
- usually weak abductors
- hip = abducted and ITB is stretched
results in compressive forces + impingement of structures onto greater trochanter
(repetitive friction of ITB over greater trochanter - repeated micro-trauma of glute med/min tendons = inflammation)

> 40 - 60 yrs 
> Female (greater trochanter = more prominent)
> Post menopause
> Lower femoral neck-shaft angle 
> Increased BMI
